- O presente artigo reflete sobre o processo de criação cénica da personagem Ricardo Reis, desde o universo literário de Fernando Pessoa até à sua recriação romanesca por José Sara-mago e à sua materialização teatral na encenação de Hélder Mateus da Costa, no Teatro A Barraca. A análise propõe uma abordagem interdisciplinar que articula teoria literária, esté-tica teatral e prática interpretativa, procurando compreender de que modo o heterónimo pessoano transita entre linguagens – da literatura ao palco –, tornando-se figura simultanea-mente dramática e humana. O estudo convoca princípios de Stanislavski, Brecht e Grotowski, cruzando-os com a experiência do ator, para explorar as fronteiras entre o real e o fantástico, a palavra e o corpo, o pensamento e a ação. Argumenta-se que, nesta tríplice metamorfose, Ricardo Reis evolui de espectador passivo para sujeito participante na história.
- This article reflects on the process of scenic creation of the character Ricardo Reis, from the literary universe of Fernando Pessoa to his novelistic reworking by José Saramago and his theatrical embodiment in Hélder Mateus da Costa’s staging at Teatro A Barraca. The analysis proposes an interdisciplinary approach that brings together literary theory, theatre aesthetics, and performance practice, seeking to understand how Pessoa’s heteronym moves across different expressive modes—from literature to the stage—becoming a figure that is at once dramatic and human. Drawing on principles from Stanislavski, Brecht, and Grotowski, and intersecting them with the actor’s experience, the study explores the boundaries between the real and the fantastic, word and body, thought and action. It argues that, through this triple metamorphosis, Ricardo Reis evolves from a passive observer into an active participant in history.
