This album is essentially an autobiographical narrative of my life through my music. As an academic, I have spent a lot of time reading and putting together bibliographies. The format of this album is inspired by these bibliographies on a conceptual level. Citations are powerful; they reveal the sources that an author found useful and important. I have found the most enriching pieces of knowledge by combing through the citations of other people’s papers. This album is dedicated to citations. If my life is the essay, these songs are the citations and the metaphorical footnotes. They provide the context of who I am. They document my lived experiences from the past and present in poetic lyrics, intricate melodies, and meticulous production. It is vulnerable, it is raw, it is uniquely my source material. This album consists of seven songs. I intend to tell stories with the music. It is poetic, lyrical, and cinematic. I am a composer, singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. I use all the aspects of my musicality in my songs. I also genre hop a lot, as I’ve been trying to push myself out of my comfort zone. I meander through indie, folk, pop, jazz, and classical. I constantly write music and have many songs to choose from for the album. Because of this, the songs I do choose are of utmost significance to my life.
