Abstract:: With increasing evidence that patient engagement empowers medical decision-making and improves health outcomes, healthcare providers are actively focusing on patient portals to enhance transparency and communication. However, despite reported benefits, over 40% of patients are not enrolled in the system. Among possible limiting factors, e.g. the digital divide, language barriers, and demographic disparities, gaps in eHealth literacy are a major obstacle. eHealth literacy - an individual’s ability to find, understand, and apply health information from electronic sources – has become a critical skill within our increasingly tech-driven healthcare landscape. This quality improvement (QI) project aims to identify prevalent barriers to portal access, investigate the role of eHealth literacy, and explore relationships between technological ability, demographic factors, and patient satisfaction.
