Improving Patient Communication in the Emergency Department

Description

Abstract:
Patients in the Emergency Department (ED) face numerous barriers to quality care, including poor transparency into their care workflow. Here, we outline a methodology to develop an automated text message-, or SMS-, based communication system. The system was launched in a single tertiary care center ED.
