- Quatro textos, da série “Crónicas de Hoje e de Sempre”, escritos entre 2010 e 2022. Histórias simples, de gente simples, gente da imigração ou ligadas a ela. Gente da minha Gente. Três exemplos dos milhares a que chamo os imigrantes desconhecidos, aqueles que passaram pelas vivências californianas tal como teriam vivido nas ilhas açorianas, se lá tivessem permanecido. O Ti Luís, florentino, a terceirense Angelina e a graciosense Francelina chegaram em busca do (quiçá) ilusório American Dream. Tê-lo-ão alcançado? Por seu lado, na Terceira, o aventureiro Edwiges “Espanhol”, que nunca pisou terras de Espanha nem do El Dorado, construiu o barco que lhe alimentou os sonhos, também nunca realizados.
- Four texts, from the series “Crónicas de Hoje e de Sempre,” written between 2010 and 2022. Simple stories, from simple people, people moved by immigration or connected to it. People of my People. Three examples of the thousands that I call the unknown immigrants, those who went through California’s life experiences as they would have lived in the Azorean islands, had they stayed there. Hard-working Ti Luís, from Flores, sweet Angelina, from Terceira and Graciosa’s crafty Francelina, arrived in search of the (perhaps) elusive American Dream. Did they achieve it? For his part, on the island of Terceira, the adventurer Edwiges “Espanhol,” who never set foot on Spain’s land or on El Dorado’s sands, built the boat that fueled his dreams, which also never came true.
