CVUSD teacher fired, 1 protester reassigned: Action follows demonstrations

Abstract:
Dateland School teacher Roman Koenig was served with a notice of the board's intention to dismiss him. Socorro Quintero was reassigned from Mecca Elementary School to work at the district administrative center. Koenig has 30 days to appeal the notice. Demonstrations started after a school board meeting attended by Community Committee for Alternatives in Education who advocated the removal of teachers Jane Coffey and Don Cochran. Mrs. Coffey has announced she plans to retire at the end of the year.
