- The Coachella Valley Unified School District school board granted Jane Coffey a one-year leave of absence. The board had asked her to resign but Coffey countered with the request that she receive a leave of absence for the 1976-77 school year. The board has asked the state Department of Education to revoke the teaching credentials of five teachers. The board is waiting to hear from the state. All five teachers, Roman Koenig, Yolanda Almaraz, Charles Marquez, Soccoro Quintero, and Donald Cochran have signed contracts for the 76-77 school year.
