- The article explores the use of new technologies by the al-Shabaab, a jihadi group in Somalia. It states that during the group's infancy, it has effectively used websites, Internet chat rooms and YouTube videos. The significance of the group's proficiency in using the social media in demoralizing its enemies, in recruiting potential members and in improving its coordination is also emphasized.
