Teria Pessoa lido Leopardi?

Description

Abstract:
According to many critics, Pessoa was an attentive reader of the leopardian work, but was it really necessary for Pessoa to read Leopardi’s work in order to write what he wrote about the philosophical thinking and pessimism of the Italian writer? And is “Canto a Leopardi” an answer to the poem “A se stesso”, as Élisabeth Ravoux-Rallo states? Is the heart speaking in this composition that of the Italian poet? In this paper we’ll try to give an overall and definitive answer to these puzzling questions.
