- Richard Worrell, born on July 4, 1934, lived in the Wayland Square neighborhood, attended John Howland and Moses Brown Schools and did not move to Fox Point until after graduating from college, serving in the military and living in other parts of the country. He moved to Benefit Street and began his career as an attorney. Governor John Chafee suggested that he run for Providence City Council. He was elected and served from 1964 to 1970 and during that time, despite his having little in common with his constituents, became a member of the community. He decided not to run for re-election in 1970 in order to pursue his law career full time. He maintains contact with his friends in Fox Point and serves on the Board of Directors for the Fox Point Boys Club.
