- Rosa (Ferreira) Lima was born 1/25/1962 on the island of Terceira in the Azores and moved to Fox Point with her parents, two sisters and her brother in 1973. She has lived on East Street, Ives Street, and Wade Street. Lima attended Fox Point Elementary School, where she learned English and helped her parents who did not speak English or read and write in Portuguese. She later attended Nathan Bishop Junior High, and Hope High School. After leaving school at age sixteen to begin working in the jewelry business. She married a fellow Fox Point resident of Azorean background at 20, and studied at the Fox Point library to earn her GED the following year. The couples two children both attended Vartan Gregorian Elementary at Fox Point, as well as Holy Name, and the Met School in Providence. Lima was involved in the Parent Teacher Organizations for all of these schools. At Fox Point Elementary, she served as the secretary, and then the president of the PTO, and was instrumental in changing the name of the school to Vartan Gregorian at Fox Point to honor Brown University's continuing involvement. She currently is the director of the Our Lady of the Rosary Food Pantry, serves on the Holy Ghost Committee, and is a member of the Fox Point Citizen Association. She loves to walk around Fox Point and still walks to her job as a billing specialist at Rhode Island Hospital. Limas children are now grown and continue to live on East Street in the family home.
