Concerns the financial disagreement between one Paul Brot, a merchant, and Captain André Vincens Fabre, then commander of the ship the Marquis de Vaudreuil, which sailed from Marseilles to Cap-Français in Haiti and then to New Orleans. The ship ran aground in the Mississippi delta, opposite fort La Belize. As the fort was manned by only a dozen men, the captain was obliged to send to New Orleans for help, and register the damage with the authorities.
