Description

Notes:
A variant and possibly the original printing of BA752.B826r2. The titles statements differ slightly. In BA752.B826r2 excelentisimo is abbreviated "Excmo." In BA752.B826r1, Manso de Velasco is viceroy, governor, and captain general of "estos Reynos de el Perù" but in BA752.B826r2, of "estos Reynos del Perù." Also there is no comma after Lima in the imprint statement in BA752.B826r1, whereas there is a comma after Lima in the imprint statement in BA752.B826r2. May be an only known copy. The description of this work in R. Vargas Ugarte, Impresos peruanos (1644) and J.T. Medina, Lima (1039) differ from one another, which is not surprising inasmuch as Vargas Ugarte did always transcribe titles literally and frequently suppressed punctuation marks, but more importantly from both variants held by the John Carter Brown Library. In both Vargas Ugarte (probably copied but not literally from Medina) and Medina, excelentisimo is abbreviated "Exmo."
Includes poetry in Latin and Spanish (p. 187-354)
Includes with separate title page and signatures but nonetheless as an integral part of this imprint as indicated by the catch word ("EL") at the bottom of page 354: El Moyses lusitano.
