Description
- Abstract:
- General Regnaud de St. Jean d'Angely was one of the commanders of the Battle of Magenta of 1859. The Battle was a major victory for the French and the Sardinians over the Austrians. The second image shows the arrival in Verona of French General Fleury who helped to arrange an armistice with Austria. According to its terms, the Austrians were allowed to keep Venetia but ceded Lombardy to the French who in turn presented the region to Italy.
