"Caveat actor"

Description

Abstract:
4th in collection of 15 original ink and watercolor drawings, by Chamberlain (probably a copy to the manuscript at West Point; on verso, fragments from "My Confession"). Tent camp in woods, 2 officers direct lashing of soldier tied to tree, other soldiers seated on ground, watching.
Notes:
15 pieces; margins; clean; in blue slipcase, yellow label st. blue "Chamberlain - Mexican War - original watercolours".
Removed from the Frederick Todd Albums, 1992.
