Abstract:
A photograph of the cottage in which the famous astronomer Caroline Herschel (1750-1848) lived after her brother, William Herschel, married in 1788. The Herschels were both excellent astronomers. William discovered Uranus, as well as several of its moons; Caroline, meanwhile, discover eight comets, and remains the only woman to have received the Gold Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society (1828).
