- A letter to the editor of The Times from Edwin A. Abbott in which he responds to Rev. R.F. Clarke's opinions of Philip H. Calderon's painting "St. Elizabeth of Hungary's Great Act of Renunciation". Clarke's letter appeared in The Times on May 16, 1981. Also included is a letter from D. Lane in response to T.H. Huxley's letter which appeared May 20, 1891.
