Description
- Abstract:
- Clipping from J.F. Loubat's "The Medallic History of the United States of America, 1776-1876," with an etching by Jules Jacquemart of a medal bearing the portrait of Abraham Lincoln on one side. The reverse side portrays an American Indian plowing a field in a peaceful scene, an American Indian scalping his enemy in another scene, the head of an Indian woman weeping, a quiver of arrows, a calumet and a bow: imagery representing opposition of civilization to savage life.
