- Abstract:
- Pat Dodd talks about beginning to work in the Brown Library as a teenager in the University Librarian's office. One of her early jobs was typing multiple letters in Spanish on a manual typewriter, using carbon paper. She then became secretary to the Assistant Director doing personnel related work. She talks about how many more people were needed to work in the library then. Pat discusses how impressed she was with the modern new Rockefeller Library and about how the most exciting new technology in those days was a red Selectric electric typewriter. She also used shorthand to take down letters. Eventually, she went into Labor Relations and she talks about her mentors who encouraged her career growth. She says that the dress code changed drastically over the years going from suits and dresses to very casual. She discusses some of the corporation members and other important people coming in to the library and also talks about funny memories that she has. She talks about the monumental changes brought about by the library getting its first computer.
