- Tim O'Connor worked as an environmental engineer for the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) from 1987-1996 and managed the Gorham cleanup site during that time Additional topics covered include: Tim's insight into the Superfund and Brownfield programs, his role in writing (and following) the Rhode Island environmental management regulations and the difference between cleanup regulations used in commercial, residential and park development. Tim offers insight into how difficult it is to formulate good regulations that take into account plant and animal ecosystems, balancing the needs of a city with the best approach to environmental health. The interview ends with an interesting exploration of Tim's personal experiences with nature and cleanup sites.
