Abstract:
Illustration entitled: "For Salt River in the gun-boat Galena, with a cargo of the contraband from repudiating Jeff's Farm, Mississippi." Depicts slaves fleeing a white plantation owner, presumably escaped during General McClellan's unsuccessful attempt to take Richmond via the James River. Text under the illustration: "Retreating General, G. B. McClellan, Commander. Repudiating Greenback, G. H. Pendleton, Pilot."
