- Anderson thanks Lincoln for his new command at Fort Adams, asking leave to board in Newport until he is sure his health will meet the test. Lincoln asks Halleck to meet this request (Signed endorsement by Lincoln on verso). Signed endorsement by Halleck on Aug. 18, 1863, executing this order.
