First written at the age of eight (HPL to Donald Wandrei, 1927 Jan 29). This handmade book version was "published" by "The Royal Press" in 1902. First published in The Shuttered Room and Other Pieces (Sauk City, SI: Arkham House, 1959). A drawing of a sailing ship is on the book's cover; the back has a drawing of a shield with an anchor and the word "Hope", similar to that on the Rhode Island state flag
