Although Vargas Ugarte asserts that this volume once belonged to Dr. Francisco de Avida and was in the Archivo Arzobispal de Lima circa 1900, there is no evidence of either in the volume. Vargas Ugarte also cites only two of the three spine titles: Miscelánea de Mss, and Origen de las Antiguadades. The third spine title reads "Spaniards in America," in English, in a hand no later than the eighteenth century, indicating that the collection had been in English-speaking hands no later than 1800.
