Description
- Abstract:
- The author reflects on the internationalization of Portuguese historiography, starting by defining the "internationalization of historical research" as a natural movement to overcome constraints imposed by sources, language and politics. The author then focuses on the international nature of economic history and describes prospects and shortcomings in some of the early Portuguese historiography involving economic history. In conclusion, he urges that the higher mobility of students and scholars on an international stage be the single most important policy measure to be followed by those who have responsibilities in government and the universities.
