Description

Abstract:
Speech by unidentified man about the nature of historical knowledge. Discussing the growth of the number of subjects that need to be talked about and "the squeeze" of time that limits the deep investigation of each. Talks about how the hardest topic is doing justice to the individual character of historical figures, and how students are not being taught about individuals by larger concepts and non-human objects whose role in history can be quickly described
