- This article contributes towards the debate about how the history of Portugal in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries is dealt with in 'História de Portugal', by Ramos et al. and 'A History of Portugal and the Portuguese Empire from Beginnings to 1807', by Disney. The article also analyzes the extent to which these texts can be considered up-to-date, and studies the bibliography that was available right before their publication, paying special attention to the sections relating to the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
- Este artigo contribui para o debate sobre como as obras 'História de Portugal', de Ramos et al. e 'A History of Portugal and the Portuguese Empire from Beginnings to 1807', de Disney, abordam a história de Portugal nos séculos XVI e XVII. O artigo também analisa se esses textos podem ser considerados atuais, e estuda a bibliografia disponível antes da sua publicação, dando especial atenção às secções relacionadas aos séculos XVI e XVII.
