Description
- Abstract:
- With manuscript corrections. This is a typed transcription of HPL's manuscript "Weird Story Plots" and "Suggestions for Writing Story" which HPL wrote in a 1927 daily calendar memo booklet, Accession #A55361 [171]. It was transcribed by Robert H. Barlow. The first page of Weird Story Plots contains Barlow's manuscript note to HPL: "DO NOT RETURN. Keep in your files. I made it for that" and the date "1934" on the last page. The cover-sheet for Suggestions for Writing Story bears the following notes in Robert H. Barlow's hand: "Commonplace Book - Printed version is inaccurate" and "Simply keep this. Don't bother to copy." First published in Barlow's edition of The Notes & Commonplace Book employed by the late H. P. Lovecraft (Lakeport, CA: The Futile Press, 1938). Suggestions for Writing Story is an early version of "Notes on Writing Weird Fiction" published in Marginalia (Sauk City WI: Arkham House, 1944). See also Accession #A12081 for the typed transcription by Barlow of HPL's "Suggestions for Writing Story" which HPL wrote in the back of the 1927 daily calendar memo booklet.
