General view of the Bon Marché

Description

Abstract:
This view is one of the two reproduced in the corners of the map. It shows the building of the Bon Marché as well as famous monuments surrounding it in the background, in particular the Eiffel tower and the Invalides. The building was commissioned by Aristide Boucicaut in 1867, but it was not completed until 1887. Several architects worked on the project, including Jean-Alexandre Laplanche and Gustave Eiffel
