- Because Poetry and History come together, overcoming Myth, it is the tour-de-force of Aeschylus' ‘Oresteia’, and also of modern Verissimo's ‘O continente’. ln one case, the political issues of the Trojan war and of the birth of democracy in Athens are resolved when the sexual and familial passions of the Atridae are neutralized by the youngest and desexualized generation, and power is passed on to the hands of the people, under the blessings of goddess Pallas Athena . Myth, thus, presides over the ultimate victory of History. ln the second case, the narrative architecture is similar, with equivalent interplay of History and Myth, although there is no substitution of plural collectivity in State for individual and/ or family authority. This strategy suggests that the characteristics of State formation in Rio Grande do Sul are better represented in fiction, with its power of providing coherent answers where History only leaves gaps.
- O modo como Poesia e História se unem, superando o Mito, é o tour-de-force de 'Oresteia' de Ésquilo, e também da versão moderna de 'O continente' de Veríssimo. Num caso, as questões políticas da guerra de Tróia e do nascimento da democracia em Atenas são resolvidas quando as paixões sexuais e familiares dos Atridae são neutralizadas pela geração mais jovem e dessexualizada, e o poder é passado para as mãos do povo, sob as bênçãos da deusa Pallas Athena. O mito, portanto, preside a vitória final da História. No segundo caso, a arquitetura narrativa é semelhante, com interação equivalente de História e Mito, embora não haja substituição da coletividade plural no Estado por autoridade individual e/ou familiar. Essa estratégia sugere que as características da formação do Estado no Rio Grande do Sul são mais bem representadas na ficção, com o seu poder de fornecer respostas coerentes onde a História só deixa lacunas.
