- Being open to the strengths of movement, community-based, single-issue, electoral, and identity-based organizing. Change depends on historical openings, elected leadership that is open, understanding the opposition, and united constituencies. She provides a good look at the strategy/coalition-building level of organizing. Mississippi Freedom Summer; Anti-Viet Nam war organizing; labor organizing; founded The Midwest Academy which trains organizers nationwide; political organizing; consultation with Democratic National Committee, AFL-CIO.
