- Lílian Fontes was born in 1958, in Rio de Janeiro. She is an architect, with a master's degree in Communication and Culture from UFRJ, where, with a grant from CNPQ, she concluded her thesis in 1997 with the title ‘The language of romance in this new time.’ She has published three books: ‘Escrita fina’ (short stories, 1991); ‘Scarecrows’ (novel, 1994); and ‘Santo dia’ (novel, 2002). In 1992, she participated in the collection ‘Copacabana, eternal city: 100 years of a myth’ with the short story ‘Areias de Copacabana’ and in 1986 she collaborated with Rubem Fonseca in the adaptation of the short story ‘O cobrador.’ Between 2000 and 2001, she worked at the Center of Latin American Studies at the University of Miami and as Vice-President of the Brazil-Florida Cultural Center associated with the Brazilian Consulate. In 2001, Ficções 8 magazine, from Editora 7 Letras, published her short story ‘Tudo é sempre tão previsto.’ She has collaborated on articles and reviews for the RioArtes Newspaper of the City of Rio de Janeiro since 1993 and is currently an editor of this newspaper. She is currently writing a new novel about the Tancredo era, not a historical novel, but a fictional narrative that is part of a trilogy. Inspired by a first meeting on March 25, 2003, in Rio de Janeiro, at Alvaro's restaurant in Leblon, where we had a lively chat, with draft beer, this interview took place online during the second half of June 2003.
- Lílian Fontes nasceu em 1958, no Rio de Janeiro.É arquiteta, com mestrado em Comunicação e Cultura pela UFRJ, onde, com bolsa do CNPQ, concluiu sua tese em 1997 com o título A linguagem do romance nesse novo tempo. Tem três livros publicados: Escrita fina (contos, 1991); Espantalhos (romance, 1994); e Santo dia (romance, 2002). Em 1992, participou da coletânea, Copacabana, cidade eterna: 100 anos de um mito, com o conto "Areias de Copacabana" e em 1986 colaborou com Rubem Fonseca na adaptação para roteiro do conto "O cobrador". Entre 2000 e 2001, trabalhou no Center of Latin American Studies da Universidade de Miami e como VicePresidente do Centro Cultural Brasil-Flórida associado ao Consulado Brasileiro. Em 2001, a revista Ficções 8, da Editora 7 Letras, publicou seu conto "Tudo é sempre tão previsto." Vem colaborando com artigos e resenhas para o Jornal da RioArtes da Prefeitura do Rio de Janeiro desde 1993 e, atualmente, é subeditora desse jornal. Atualmente, está escrevendo um novo romance sobre a época de Tancredo, não um romance histórico, mas uma narrativa ficcional que faz parte de uma trilogia. Inspirada num primeiro encontro no dia 25 de março de 2003, no Rio de Janeiro, no restaurante Alvaro's no Leblon, onde tivemos um papo animado, com chope, esta entrevista teve lugar on-line durante a segunda quinzena de junho de 2003.
