- Abstract:
- This project explores the impact of a Shared Medical Appointment (SMA) for patients with pre-diabetes in a primary care outpatient setting on patient and provider satisfaction. Each SMA cohort consists of 8-10 patients meeting once a week for 90 minutes for 4 weeks with a physician and nutritionist. This primary objective of this study will be to determine the potential impact of SMAs on physician satisfaction and patient perception of the SMA's educational effectiveness. I hope to explore patients’ experiences of SMAs and determine if they show potential for wider usage beyond outpatient primary care.
