- In 1985, Suzana Amaral did a film adaptation of Clarice Lispector's 1971 novel 'A hora da estrela.' The central theme of the narrative is the protagonist's search for identity. Lispector empahsizes this aspect through the meditation of a narrator-character, who during the narration reflects on the topics of voice, silence, character construction and the ever-difficult task that surrounds the process of creation. Rodrigo (the masculine narrator) and his voice, so central to Lispector's novel, are substituted in Amaral's work by the development of other characters that construct (or at least attempt to construct) Macabéa. Amaral also uses other cinematographic elements to obtain this objective. This article examines the role of the narrator and how it is manifest in both narratives--in the film and in the literary work.
- Em 1985, Suzana Amaral adaptou o romance ‘A Hora da Estrela’, de Clarice Lispector, de 1971, à tela do cinema. O tema central da narrativa é a busca de identidade por parte da protagonista. Lispector enfatiza esse aspecto através das meditações de um personagem-narrador, que reflete, durante a narração, sobre os tópicos: voz, silêncio, construção de personagens e a sempre difícil tarefa que rodeia o processo de criação. Rodrigo, o narrador masculino e sua voz, aspectos tão centrais do romance de Lispector, são substituídos, na narrativa de Amaral, pelo desenvolvimento de outras personagens que constroem (ou pelo menos tentam construir) Macabéa. Amaral usa também outros elementos cinematográficos para obter esse objetivo. Este artigo examina a função do narrador e como a mesma se manifesta em ambas as narrativas: no filme e na obra literária.
