- The purpose of this essay is to discuss how the contemporary Brazilian novel has used artifices that seek to test the limits of fiction and the very definition of the genre. It seeks to demonstrate how the use of autobiography, self-writing and self-fiction are, today, particularly useful to develop this reflection. The novels ‘Budapeste’ (2003), by Chico Buarque, and ‘Berkeley em Bellagio’ (2002), by João Gilberto Noll, are taken as paradigmatic examples.
- A intenção deste ensaio é discutir de que maneira o romance contemporâneo brasileiro tem lançado mão de artifícios que procuram testar os limites da ficção e a própria definição do gênero. Busca demonstrar como o recurso à autobiografia, à escrita de si e à autoficção são, hoje, particularmente úteis para desenvolver essa reflexão. São tomados como exemplos paradigmáticos os romances ‘Budapeste’ (2003), de Chico Buarque, e ‘Berkeley em Bellagio’ (2002), de João Gilberto Noll.
