- The article investigates the ramifications of the Chechenization policy of the administration of former Russian President Vladimir Putin for the Caucasus region. The origins of the Russian policy toward Chechnya are traced from the administration of Boris Yeltsin, who initiated a chaotic federal response to the invasion of the Republic of Dagestan by Chechen militants. The article also explores how Chechnya was being stabilized as reconstructed as a federal subject under the administration of Chechen mufti, Akhmed Kadyrov.
