- This essay explores the limitations of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as shown by the Georgian and Ukrainian conflicts. It is suggested that NATO has outlived its main purpose of existence, unless it decides to extend full membership to the Russian Federation. The author emphasizes the need to include Russia into NATO because Russia is resurrecting a defensive military nationalism. The advantages of incorporating Russia into NATO are also discussed, including the ability to counter the emergence of China, India and Brazil as world powers.
