- Taking contemporary literature into account, this article analyses the location of the intellectual writers in emergent countries in the context of the internationalization of the artistic production. The condition of the intellectual writers as individuals adrift will be here compared to their status acquired (or not) after their work is translated and widespread abroad. Comparing the situation of Brazilian intellectual writers from 1930s to 1940s to their critical fictional representation in Silviano Santiago's ‘Em Liberdade’ (1981); to the situation of the writer in the early years of the 21st century, as fictionalized in João Gilberto Noll's ‘Lorde’ (2004) and ‘Berkeley em Bellagio’ (2002), this reflection asserts that a battle between the different conceptions of nationality and the powers of a utopian thought takes place in the center of the intellectual arena. The three last decades of the 20ths, fictionalized in ‘Em Liberdade’, and the early years of the 21st century, represented in Noll's novels stage both the ironic skepticism and the crisis of the triumphant utopias, as well as the clash of the intellectual writers with the issues of achieving (or not) money and status in the process of trading their cultural products inside a society ruled by groups that represent the elite of the globalized world, and whose interests lie in the acquisition of consumer goods. ln relation to the internationalization of the intellectual writers in the market of the globalized academic world, it will be highlighted here that the acclaimed multiculturalism can be seen as a correspondent to the "improvement of the rules" in which subjectivities succumb to a logic of the play that tum intellectual writers into losers of the globalized system, making them to replicate the roles reserved to subaltern subjects, a consequence of their submission to what is inadequate.
- Tendo em conta a literatura contemporânea, este artigo analisa a localização dos escritores intelectuais em países emergentes no contexto da internacionalização da produção artística. A condição dos escritores intelectuais como indivíduos à deriva será aqui comparada ao status adquirido (ou não) depois que seu trabalho é traduzido e difundido no exterior. Comparando a situação dos escritores intelectuais brasileiros de 1930 a 1940 com sua representação ficcional crítica no "Em Liberdade" de Silviano Santiago (1981); à situação do escritor nos primeiros anos do século XXI, como ficcionado em 'Lorde', de João Gilberto Noll (2004) e 'Berkeley em Bellagio' (2002), esta reflexão afirma que uma batalha entre as diferentes concepções de nacionalidade e os poderes de um pensamento utópico ocorrem no centro da arena intelectual. As três últimas décadas do século XX, ficcionalizadas em 'Em Liberdade' e os primeiros anos do século XXI, representadas nos romances de Noll, encenam tanto o ceticismo irônico quanto a crise das utopias triunfantes, assim como o choque dos escritores intelectuais com as questões de conseguir (ou não) dinheiro e status no processo de comercialização de seus produtos culturais dentro de uma sociedade governada por grupos que representam a elite do mundo globalizado, e cujos interesses residem na aquisição de bens de consumo. Em relação à internacionalização dos escritores intelectuais no mercado do mundo acadêmico globalizado, será destacado aqui que o multiculturalismo aclamado pode ser visto como um correspondente à "melhoria das regras" em que as subjetividades sucumbem a uma lógica do mundo acadêmico, jogam os escritores intelectuais em perdedores do sistema globalizado, fazendo-os replicar os papéis reservados aos sujeitos subalternos, uma conseqüência de sua submissão ao que é inadequado.
