- The essay aims to debate the work of Ana Maria Machado, the thoughts of the public intellectual she is, and how her work questions her country, since the times of the authoritarian regime through the reconstruction of democracy up to the difficulties that remain, not only in relation to domestic issues but also in the insertion of the country in an universe of globalized economy. Across the writer's eight novels already published we arrive to her last title, ‘Infamy,’ 2011, decisive for an assessment of political life in today's Brazil.
- O ensaio tem como objetivo debater o trabalho de Ana Maria Machado, os pensamentos do intelectual público que ela é, e como seu trabalho questiona seu país, desde os tempos do regime autoritário através da reconstrução da democracia até as dificuldades que permanecem, não apenas em relação a questões domésticas, mas também na inserção do país em um universo de economia globalizada. Nos oito romances do escritor já publicados chegamos ao seu último título, "Infâmia", de 2011, decisivo para uma avaliação da vida política no Brasil de hoje.
