A hora dos corvos': the reinvention of Prometheus in Carlos Drummond de Andrade

Description

Abstract:
In this essay I analyze the poem “Anoitecer", by Carlos Drummond de Andrade. I argue that the poet shows, through a unique reconfiguration of the Prometheus myth, a disillusioned view of modem life. The lyric voice, as a modern Prometheus, accurately depicts the soundscapes of the metropolis and of the small town, which intersect through memory and direct observation of reality.
