Description
- Abstract:
- This picture depicts a woman gambling with three men. The text describing Year VIII says, "Pleasure-seekers still specially affected the neighborhood of the Palais-Royal...This was the hour for which every vice, and every interest, had called a meeting...." (27) The woman is more scantily dressed, but her dress retains the typical empire waist and simplicity.
