Luzia as Reader: Journalistic narratve in the writing of history

Description

Abstract:
This article analyzes the behavior of the character Luzia Cambará as a newspaper and almanac reader in O Continente. It is understood that Luzia's reading practice not only indicates an intention to upset her interlocutors, in a context that denies women the right to express an opinion on certain subjects, but also leads to new interpretations about the writing of history in Erico Verissimo's trilogy, often legitimized by the journalistic narrative.
