- This essay compares the gaucho figures represented in O Continente and Contos Gauchescos, respectively Fandango and Blau Nunes, showing how Erico Verissimo relies on his predecessor Simões Lopes Neto to conform his character according to the traditional pampa archetype. It uses the concepts of anthropophagy and intertextuality as foundations for explaining the way of creation used in the work.
- Este ensaio compara as figuras do gaúcho representadas em O Continente e em Contos Gauchescos, respectivamente Fandango e Blau Nunes, mostrando como Erico Verissimo se vale de seu antecessor Simões Lopes Neto, para conformar sua personagem de acordo com o arquétipo tradicional do pampa. Recorre aos conceitos de antropofagia e intertextualidade como fundamentos para a explicitação do modo de criação empregado na obra.
