Fatback

Description

Abstract:
In lieu of an abstract, this is an excerpt from the first page: "'Tell me, Fatback, what are you going to do with yourself from now on?' 'I don't really know, Mistuh Joe. But one thing's sure. I won't be sleeping in the streets no more.' Her name was Adelina Marta Gomes something or other, but the name of Fatback had stuck ever since someone thought of comparing the back of her neck to a slab of bacon."
