- From the issue that students in a Literature Course at the University of São Paulo did not share the attitudes or concepts of reading of their scholarly professors, this paper analyses the classifications of Brazilian mass magazines in 1993 and 1997 and reaches at the conclusion that in the production instance they do not alter their concepts of readers and reading in essence although they seem to follow the public's changing needs. New kinds of magazines, including a case of a recent one addressed to those "who know how to read," show that even when intention is innovative, old and well established successful formulae are employed so far as readers and reading concepts are concerned.
- A partir da questão de que os alunos de um curso de literatura da Universidade de São Paulo não compartilhavam as atitudes ou conceitos de leitura de seus professores acadêmicos, este trabalho analisa as classificações das revistas brasileiras de massa em 1993 e 1997 e chega à conclusão de que, na produção, elas não alteram essencilamente os seus conceitos de leitores e leitura, embora pareçam seguir as mudanças nas necessidades do público. Novos tipos de revistas, incluindo um caso recente de revista dirigida àqueles "que sabem ler", mostram que, mesmo quando a intenção é inovadora, fórmulas de sucesso antigas e bem estabelecidas são empregadas no que diz respeito a leitores e conceitos de leitura.
