- Abstract:
- Cancer is a complex disease with heterogenous mutational and gene expression patterns. Analyzing the complex architecture could demonstrate subgroups of patients who share specific networks with a shared phenotype. To achieve this, we analyzed publicly available RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) data from cancer patients across ten different tissue types and identified PPIs specific to 26 distinct cancer subtypes. We developed the Atlas of Protein-Protein Interactions in Cancer (APPIC), a web application that provides visual network diagrams of these interactions. Additionally, APPIC compiles biological and clinical information from various databases, including the Human Protein Atlas, Hugo Gene Nomenclature Committee, g:Profiler, cBioPortal, and CLUE. APPIC uncovers the specific mechanisms that drive different cancer subtypes. By offering insights into these interactions, it aims to support the development of novel targeted therapeutics for each cancer subtype.
