- This document on Displacement is a covering note for the NAC by NC Saxena, Jean Dreze and Aruna Roy. It says, "The acquisition of land by the state for development and commercial projects and activities often forcibly uproots people, compelling them to give up their homes, their assets, their cultural and social roots and their means of livelihood. Forced displacement has been an important reason for the further pauperisation of a large number of poor people, especially tribals."
