- It is clear from Grupo Galpão’s interpretations of the ‘A rua da amargura’ that what most matters for the group and its director is not the story itself, but the form in which the story is told . Thus, in both the stage and screen versions of ‘Rua,’ Grupo Galpão reverses the Aristotelian hierarchy of theatre elements, de-emphasizing character, plot and thought, and foregrounding diction, spectacle and music. The circus elements and the Brazilian songs and dances make the shows into vigorous and popular visions of Jesus' drama, and as the actors perform his passion, both spectacles intermingle songs and rituals, skillfully incorporating the Bible and the ‘folias.’ Spontaneous religion, circus elements, music and dance amicably cohabit the same space without questioning one another's validity.
- Fica claro nas interpretações do Grupo Galpão sobre "A rua da amargura" que o que mais importa para o grupo e o seu diretor não é a história em si, mas a forma em que a história é contada. Assim, tanto nas versões no palco e na tela de 'Rua', o Grupo Galpão inverte a hierarquia aristotélica dos elementos teatrais, deixando de enfatizar o caráter, o enredo e o pensamento e destacando a dicção, o espetáculo e a música. Os elementos circenses e as canções e danças brasileiras transformam os espetáculos em visões vigorosas e populares do drama de Jesus, e, como os atores realizam sua paixão, ambos os espetáculos misturam canções e rituais, incorporando habilmente a Bíblia e as 'folias'.
